At just 17 years old, Illyana Rangel is already making a strong impact both in the classroom and on the field. A Junior at Grand Terrace High School, Illyana maintains a 3.0 GPA while balancing a demanding schedule of academics, athletics, and personal interests.

Illyana’s journey in athletics began at a young age. She has been playing softball since the age of 13 and now serves as a key player on the Varsity team as a pitcher. Her dedication and growth have been evident throughout the season, especially in one standout performance against Carter High School. In that game, Illyana held the opposing team through an intense eight-inning tie, demonstrating resilience and composure under pressure. With the support of her teammates, the Lady Titans secured a thrilling walk-off victory in the eighth inning and an unforgettable moment that reflected the team’s hard work and preparation.

Off the field, Illyana enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes, showing her creativity extends beyond athletics.

When asked who inspires her most, Illyana shared, “My parents have been the biggest influence in my life. They have shown me what hard work looks like and encouraged me to give my best every day, both on and off the field.”

In addition to her athletic and academic commitments, Illyana is involved in the Best Buddies program, an experience that has shaped her perspective. Reflecting on her involvement, she said, “It has taught me a lot about understanding others. It showed me that not everyone has the same opportunities, and it has helped me develop patience and kindness toward everyone.”

Looking ahead, Illyana plans to attend college and pursue a degree in civil engineering while continuing to embrace life to the fullest.

Her personal motto, “Play with heart, hustle every play, and leave it all on the field,” perfectly captures her mindset and dedication.

Illyana’s growth has been nothing short of inspiring. With her talent, determination, and strong support system, she is poised to continue excelling in all she does. The future is undoubtedly bright for this Lady Titan.
