San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) organized two memorable family picnics to celebrate Foster Care Month in May. These events honored foster, adoptive and kinship families within San Bernardino County. The events held at Scandia Fun Park in Victorville and Fiesta Village in Colton aimed to celebrate and appreciate all the caregivers who provide loving homes and ensure the well-being of at-risk youth. Each event had over 300 individuals in attendance, all of whom had the opportunity to engage in the theme park activities and create unforgettable memories.

Jeany Zepeda, director of CFS, emphasized the significance of these events.

“Today we celebrate the amazing caregivers who provide a loving environment to our foster youth,” Zepeda said. “This day is also about creating lasting memories together. The dedication of our caregivers ensures the safety and well-being of our children, and we are grateful for their commitment.”

Colton First District Council Member David Toro attended the event in Colton with his wife Kerri Toro and their son Jayden. The Toros adopted Jayden last June and attended the San Bernardino County CFS Adoption Finalization event.  Toro expressed his appreciation to CFS for providing families with the opportunity to spend quality time together and meet other families in the community. The council member ’s support showcases the importance of community involvement and the profound impact that adoption can have on families and communities.

The success of the Foster-Adoptive-Kinship family picnics in May highlighted the vital role that caregivers play in the lives of foster youth. By providing nurturing and supportive environments, they lay the foundation for brighter futures. This event serves as a reminder of the positive impact that love, dedication from a caregiver, and community support can have on our youth. We want to thank all our caregivers who attended this event and for ensuring the well-being of our foster youth. CFS will continue to support and celebrate the amazing caregivers who make an impact in the lives of at-risk youth.
