Calimesa Community Concert Series is currently celebrating its 39th season!

Each year during the wonder and excitement of the Christmas season, the concert series has featured its Christmas Festival of Music and Light held in the festively decorated sanctuary of the Calimesa SDA Church.  This year is no exception. Over the years a variety of Christian musical artists have been featured, including Selah, the Gary Bonner Singers and Orchestra and the Epic Brass, to name a few.

This year’s Festival of Music and Lights will feature in concert the acclaimed, highly professional Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass, which of note will be celebrating their 45th anniversary of musical performances nationally and internationally next year.  The Brass, composed of 9 professionally trained Christian instrumentalists – each with their own impressive bio, are known for playing a variety of music from Gabrieli to hymn classics; from Handel to spirituals; from holiday carols to patriotic marches and more. They currently have 15 recordings to their credit. They are known for periodically during a concert playing from all corners of a concert hall, typically bringing a standing ovation.

Tim Zimmerman, director and founder of the King’s Brass, received his graduate degree in trumpet performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and he has been a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, plus assisted in a number of orchestras in the Midwest and on the East Coast.  For 13 years, Tim served as Chairman of the Music Department at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Additionally, he has taught trumpet at Taylor University and Wesleyan University, both located in Indiana. Tim and his wife Beckie have four adult children and currently live in Fort Meyers, Florida. Tim continues to direct and inspire young musicians in addition to the King’s Brass ensemble.

The King’s Brass is composed of three trumpeters, 3 trombonists, a tuba player, a percussionist and a keyboard artist, all having distinguished degrees in music performance from numerous prestigious universities.  They consistently receive standing ovations and rave reviews.

This year’s Christmas Festival of Music and Light has as its theme, REJOICE! The Brass has recorded to date two albums dedicated to the celebration of Christmas, featuring an impressive variety of the music of this season.

Concerts will be held in the church sanctuary, which consistent with tradition will awe one with the warmth and beauty of the season, augmenting the inspiring music and message of the Brass.

Concerts are at the Calimesa SDA Church, Calimesa, California, located on the corner of 4th Street and Myrtlewood and will be presented Friday evening December 15 at7:00 and Saturday afternoon December 16 at 4:00.  Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each concert.  Tickets must be purchased in advance by either going to iTickets.com or by calling iTickets week day mornings directly at 800 965-9324 (Monday through Friday; not available on weekends).
