Auto Club Speedway Raises Over $7,700 for CA Officer's Memorial Foundation

Auto Club Speedway President Dave Allen presented a check for more than $7,700 to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation (CPOMF) – donations from NASCAR fans who contributed to its First Responder Program during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 400 race in March. The check was presented in Gatorade Victory Lane at the Speedway today to Wayne Quint Jr, Executive Director of CPOMF, Fontana Police Chief Rodney Jones, and Officer Shawn Cory along with K9 Kaiser to support the service and sacrifice made by California Peace Officers. “Here at Auto Club Speedway, we want to create a lasting, positive impact in our community,” said Allen. “Partnering with CPOMF gives us an opportunity to recognize the service and sacrifice made by California’s peace officers and to provide support to the family members left behind.” Auto Club Speedway works closely with the first responder community to create special ticket packages where a portion of the ticket price is collected as a donation to go back to select non-profits to support fallen peace officers, firefighters, and their families. "This check speaks volumes about the relationship the first responders have with Auto Club Speedway,” said Quint. "Our fallen heroes families can rest assured that the officer’s legacy will live on." Auto Club Speedway’s partnership with the CPOMF, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the California Fire Foundation raised over $21,000 during the 2015 Auto Club 400 NASCAR race to support the service and sacrifice made by first responders. Each year during the Auto Club 400, a First Responder Appreciation hospitality area is located in the O’ Reilly Auto Parts Fan Zone. First responders and families enjoyed a Q&A with NASCAR driver, Aric Almirola, bag pipe performances, and fire truck and emergency vehicle displays.
