Kaiser Permanente Awards $8,067,472 in Community Grants to Benefit Organizations in San Bernardino County
Continuing its strong commitment to supporting the communities it serves, Kaiser Permanente has announced a total of $8,067,472 community health grants awarded to 70 organizations in San Bernardino County for 2024-2025.
The local and regional grants support community-based organizations, service providers, community clinics, school districts, cities and the county to deliver programs and services to low-income children, youth, families, seniors and unhoused vulnerable populations throughout San Bernardino County.
“Kaiser Permanente has a mission to help eliminate health disparities and build healthier communities,” said Georgina Garcia, senior vice president and area manager, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals/Health Plan, San Bernardino County. “We are pleased to invest these significant resources to support our amazing, committed partners who work with our under-served populations in San Bernardino County.”
Grants were awarded in the six strategic community priority areas below:
- Access to Care: High quality, affordable, comprehensive, culturally competent and equitable health care is critical for ensuring quality of life.
- Mental & Behavioral Health: Affects all areas of life, including a person’s physical well-being, ability to work and perform well in school, and to participate fully in family and community activities.
- Education: Higher levels of education are associated with more healthy behaviors, improved quality of life, and higher life expectancy.
- Income and Employment: Economic opportunity provides individuals with jobs, income, a sense of purpose, and opportunities to improve their economic circumstances over time.
- Food & Nutrition Security: Occurs when people do not have enough resources to meet their basic needs, including having enough food to eat to lead an active, healthy life.
- Homeless Prevention and Reduction: Support homeless service providers to serve children, adolescents, families, adults, and seniors at risk or experiencing homelessness.
