At the Loma Linda Filipino Church Gymnasium, on Aug. 24 the Mountain View College Association and Loma Linda Chapter of Western USA, MVCAA-WUSA, a non-profit organization, hosted a fundraising benefit concert. Half of the proceedings are slated to benefit the MVCAA Organization of the Philippines, and the other half of the proceedings will go to the MVCAA Organization of Loma Linda. Members of Inland Empire-based Christian churches came together last weekend to support the MVCAA organization chapters, and to worship, praise and sing along with the four-time Grammy Award nominee and seven-time Dove Award winner Steve Green. Rollie Donato, President of MVCAA-LL Chapter, said, “I am excited and grateful for the support and cooperation everyone has been giving to the MVCAA Loma Linda Chapter. I’m ready to have some fun while singing along with Steve Green, but most importantly, I’m excited about how we all are here together for another opportunity to praise God and hear his message through the songs of Steve Green at this Concert.” David Elicia explained, “My family and I love the music of Steve Green. I remember buying his CD 14 years ago while my children were little and playing it for them. The messages [he gives] have made an impact on all our lives and we all just want to give our part and support the benefit here.” With an opening prayer filled with thanks, praise and prosperity, Green immediately began to lead the crowd. They sang along with, “All to Bring You Glory.” With help from a choir, Musicapella, Green sang two other popular songs: “People Need the Lord” and “Broken and Spilled Out.” Before the closing prayer, Green asked for all the children to come up on stage and share a song of worship with him.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
