The Alumni Association of Loma Linda University School of Medicine will sponsor a special vesper service at the Loma Linda University Church, 11125 Campus Street, Loma Linda on March 6 at 7 p.m. The community is invited to join alumni of the School of Medicine as they celebrate the 83rd Annual Postgraduate Convention, plus students faculty and friends. The theme of the evening is “We’ve A Story to Tell to the Nations” emphasizing one’s commitment to the healing ministry to all parts of the world, including locally in San Bernardino and surrounding communities. Dr. Richard Hart, President of the University, as part of the program, will interview alumni and medical students allowing them to share their inspirational stories of mission. The special invited speaker for the evening, will be Karl Haffner, currently Senior Pastor of the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist church in Kettering, OH, integral to Kettering Health Network. Pastor Karl Haffner has spoken extensively to health care organizations on topics ranging from leadership issues to soul fatigue. His humor and enthusiasm are infectious, delighting audiences around the world with his passion and perspectives. He is a prolific author with over a dozen books to his credit along with thousands of articles published in a wide variety of journals. His B.A. and master’s degrees in business administration, combined with his B.A. and master’s degrees in theology, along with a Ph.D. in leadership, make Karl a forceful and credible voice. The evening praise and worship vespers will also feature “The Parade of Flags” featuring flags of some 30 nations, representing the citizenship of students currently enrolled in the School of Medicine. A student praise team will be featured as well as music by guest artists, “The Conner Smith Trio” popular gospel singers from California Baptist University and Desmond Clark, singer, composer and recording artist. At the conclusion of the program the audience will enjoy a time of fellowship and refreshments hosted by medical students. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. It promises to be an inspiring evening of worship and praise. A freewill offering will be received.
