A Painting Demonstration by Karen Werner

The Loma Linda Cultural Art Association is pleased to present a painting demonstration by Karen Werner, a Southern California artist, on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm. Ms. Werner works in both oil and watercolor, painting a wide variety of subject matter. She combines the enthusiasm of a born teacher with a broad experience in the several versions of approach to painting: plein air, studio work: she paints both from life and photo references.

Growing up around the art and paint-filled sign company her parents owned, Karen’s favorite place to hang out was her father’s office, where she could spread her papers on the floor, dive into the deep drawer where her Prismacolor pencils lived, and draw for hours. With the aim of teaching high school art, she focused on drawing and painting for both her undergrad and graduate-level work.  After retiring from years of teaching, she dedicated herself to painting. Werner is convinced that “practice is the key to steady growth as an artist.” She paints every day.

Her blog shares this conviction with the public, where her daily work displays versatility in watercolor and oils. She teaches watercolor and oil classes in her home studio, and demonstrates in oil for Southern California art associations. Her love of plein air painting has taken her throughout California and the Southwest. Werner’s work has won numerous awards in juried shows and is held in private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

LLCAA monthly meetings take place at the Loma Linda Senior Center, located at the southeast corner of the Loma Linda Civic Center Complex, 25541 Barton Road in Loma Linda.  The public is invited; a $5.00 donation is requested from non-LLCAA members.  There is no cost for Loma Linda University students.
