On Super Bowl Sunday, the San Bernardino County Probation Department visited supervised probationers with prior convictions for driving under the influence (DUI) offenses. During the 8-hour compliance operation, 55 home visits were conducted and 36 probationers were contacted, all of whom were found to be in compliance.

“Community safety is always the goal of this operation,” Chief Probation Officer Tracy Reece said. “Our officers are out on Super Bowl Sunday to protect the community and deter alcohol consumption among those on our caseloads.”

The potential for alcohol consumption is typically higher on Super Bowl Sunday. During the routine, unannounced visits, Probation officers check homes and vehicles of probationers for any alcohol, drugs, and other paraphernalia to verify compliance with the conditions of their probation.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
