Modulars help schools provide modern, green learning environments

Leaders from across Southern California got a first-hand view of the next generation of classrooms and school facilities as Silver Creek Modular showcased its Perris manufacturing operation.

The grand opening on Friday, September 15, came three months after the company was started by Webb Investments, the Ontario-based family business committed to community re-investment and inclusive economic development.

Approximately 200 leaders from education, business and local government toured Silver Creek’s manufacturing facility, which at peak production will employ more than 350 people while providing school districts, community colleges and universities with innovative, sustainable and cost-effective buildings and classrooms.

By constructing its modular buildings in a controlled, modern manufacturing setting, Silver Creek is able to complete projects more quickly, precisely and affordably than traditional stick building. This results in minimal disruption to school and the community.

The company was founded after Webb Investments acquired the assets of the former Silver Creek Industries, which has been redefining modular construction since 2005, completing more than 1,600 projects and serving more than 350 school districts.

“We’re bringing new solutions to old problems, pushing the construction industry, schools and ourselves to think differently,” said Steve PonTell, CEO of Silver Creek Modular.  “When you see how our buildings are constructed, it’s easy to get excited

about the opportunities for school districts and colleges to upgrade or expand their learning environments with modern, green classrooms and facilities that can be delivered quickly and cost-effectively.”

Among the visitors at Friday’s Grand Opening was Dale Marsden, founder and chief visionary for Tomorrow’s Talent LLC.

“Silver Creek Modular is changing the landscape for schools looking to add smart, modern buildings that will improve the student experience and positively impact the community,” said Marsden, former superintendent of the San Bernardino City Unified School District.

Said Dr. Tomas Morales, President of California State University, San Bernardino, “Silver Creek Modular is offering an intriguing solution to schools and colleges looking to expand their facilities in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way.”

Michael Vargas, Mayor of Perris, said the Grand Opening marks an important moment for the City. “The 350-plus jobs that Silver Creek Modular is bringing to our community will support family and create additional economic vitality for the city,” he said.
