Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center Achieves Magnet® Recognition

Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center has received Magnet® Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in recognition of its nursing professionalism, teamwork, and superior patient care.

Magnet designation is an award that recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing services, and it’s the highest national credential for nurses’ excellence that can be awarded to any organization. It’s considered the ‘Gold Standard’ for nursing practice.

“Research shows that Magnet hospitals consistently provide patients with the highest quality of care,” said Georgina Garcia, senior vice president, and area manager, of Kaiser Permanente San Bernardino County Area. “This recognition reflects our nurses’ commitment to providing exceptional care every day. We’re extremely proud of this distinction earned by our nursing staff at Ontario Medical Center.”

With this credential, Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center joins the global community of Magnet-recognized organizations. Only about 9% of hospitals in the country have attained this award.

The ANCC describes its Magnet Recognition Program as recognizing healthcare organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice. To achieve Magnet recognition, organizations must pass a rigorous and lengthy process that demands widespread participation from leadership and staff.

Earning this designation demonstrates the hard work and dedication of the entire hospital staff and reinforces the core value of Kaiser Permanente Nursing values: Patient Family Centric, Professionalism, Integrity, Compassion, Excellence, and Teamwork.

This process includes an electronic application, written patient care documentation, an on-site visit, and a review by the Commission on Magnet Recognition.
