Hot Weather Ahead: Safety Tips

Elevated temperatures are expected in San Bernardino County this week. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Friday at 8 p.m., with highs of 93–98°F and hot conditions likely to continue into the weekend.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions to reduce the risk of heat-related illness by staying in air-conditioned buildings, limiting outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, wearing lightweight clothing, and drinking water regularly throughout the day. Do not rely on fans as a primary cooling source during hot weather.

Community members are encouraged to check on older adults, neighbors and others who may be more vulnerable to high temperatures. Children and pets should never be left in parked vehicles, even for a short time. Pets should also have access to extra water and shade, and outdoor activity should be limited during peak heat hours.

Residents looking for a cool location open to the public can visit San Bernardino County Cool Places to Go or dial 2-1-1 for local resources. Seniors may also contact the Senior Information and Assistance Hotline at 800-510-2020.

Stay informed, stay prepared and stay safe. For additional preparedness tips and safety resources, visit prepare.sbcounty.gov.
