From Italy to the Inland Empire

On Sunday, November 4, from 2 to 4 pm, the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association* is delighted to present John Budicin, a devoted plein air artist who works in oils. Born in the beautiful seaside town, Rovigno D’Istria (that eventually passed from Italy to Croatia), Budicin emigrated to the US and California as an 11-year-old Italian. After completing his education, John became a commercial artist and freelance illustrator, turning to plein air fine art as a career when his employer moved out of California.

Our artist paints “almost” every day, outdoors, close to home in San Bernardino. He teaches workshops for several weeks every year across the US and in Italy. The result is that to a procession of depictions of the surprising—and often unremarked—beauties of our nearby natural wonders are added delightful pictorial memories from those travels.

LLCAA* meetings are held in the Loma Linda Senior Center which is located at the southeastern corner of the Loma Linda Civic Center complex, at 25541 Barton Road, in Loma Linda. The public is invited; a $5.00 donation is requested from non-LLCAA* members. There is no cost for LLU students.

MORE: Our yearly LLCAA* Fall/Winter Classic Art Show begins with “take-in” of entries on Tuesday, October 23. There will be displays at Loma Linda Civic Center (address above; open M-Thurs), and at LLU Drayson Center (open Sun – Fri), 25040 Stewart Street, Loma Linda. The show ends with “take-down” on Tuesday, December 4. Many pieces will be for sale—fine art is great for holiday giving. Don’t miss this opportunity!
