Fall 2020 Art Show

The Loma Linda Art Association is seeking artwork for its Fall 2020 Art Show.

The historic exhibition will be published in both digital and, for the first time ever, book formats. Earlier this year, the association published its annual spring show as a digital edition after the COVID-19 shutdown precluded physical exhibition spaces.

California artist Elin Pendleton will serve as judge for the juried exhibition. Cash awards will be offered in two categories: painting and alternative. That second classification is all-inclusive and includes collage, drawing, etching, fiber art, photography, sculpture, printmaking and other forms of visual art.

LLAA President James Ponder says the show is open to artists of all ages and abilities, but adds that works depicting nudity or violence will not be accepted. “The exhibition will feature a single work of art per page to invite viewers to contemplate the unique visual elements of each piece,” Ponder noted.

The deadline for entry is Wednesday, Sept. 2, and the all-inclusive entry fee covers from one to a limit of five entries per artist.

There are three categories of entry fees:

Members: $25

Non-members 35

Loma Linda University students no charge.

Artists who wish to sell their work through the show may include prices and contact information. The association assesses a 20-percent commission on all sales, but leaves it to participating artists to report any sales and pay the commission. “We know, we’re taking a risk by working on the honor system,” Ponder says, “but artists are generally conscientious souls and we would rather operate on the basis of trust.”
