California Baptist University earned its sixth win by sweep against PacWest-foe Fresno Pacific Friday night in the Van Dyne Gym on set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-22. Lauren Marr and Jenna Perry tied for a match-high 14 kills. Lauren Hackett notched a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, and setter Jordyn Siko nearly picked up one of her own with 39 assists, nine digs and four kills in just the three sets. Defensively, Kristin McCord and Nicci Hinderaker each logged 10 digs and Kiera Brunson recorded four blocks. The Lancers steamrolled the Sunbirds in the first set, hitting .357 percent (15 kills, five errors on 28 attempts) and holding FPU to a .061 mark (10-8-33). Fresno Pacific led for a majority of the second set, including a 19-17 lead, before Perry led CBU to a two-set edge. She notched five of her team’s final six points of the set with kills for the 25-22 victory. Down again, 21-20, in set three, Marr delivered the sweep with four of her kills highlighting a 5-1 match-clinching run from the Lancers. CBU is back in action tomorrow against Point Loma, the 24th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym.
