Colton & Loma Linda Fire Department to Launch a New Fire Danger Program

The Colton and Loma Linda Fire Departments have initiated a joint, city-wide fire danger program to alert the public of elevated fire dangers in their communities. Wildfires are more likely to occur and spread during Red Flag conditions, when strong winds are accompanied by low humidity levels and high temperatures. The program will increase public awareness of the fire dangers by raising red “FIRE ALERT” flags at all six city fire stations. This program was adopted from the Orange County Fire Authority as a result of last year’s freeway complex fire and the Santiago Fire two years prior. Colton and Loma Linda fire stations will raise FIRE ALERT flags at their respective facilities during designated Red Flag conditions, which will be based on Cal-Fire advisories. This program will heighten public awareness of increased fire dangers. All residents should take personal responsibility for protecting themselves, their families and their property.
