LOMA LINDA>> The local group fulfilled the child life wish list for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that included $5,000 worth of goodies, such as mobiles, mirrors, baby swing covers, books and other miscellaneous items that can be used by new moms and nurses on the unit.

The books, 225 in total, were provided by Frugal Frigate, a children’s bookstore in downtown Redlands.

The Guild worked with Kathy Regan from the child life department at LLUCH to ensure the wish list was completed. “It was like Christmas,” Regan said upon receiving the donation. “These items are so very much needed in the NICU.”

The child life department works to minimize fears and stress experienced by children, adolescents and families during hospitalization and develop age appropriate activities for patients ranging in age from birth to young adult.

The Loma Linda Guild is committed to supporting the children hospitalized at LLUCH by developing programs and projects that address the critical needs of these children and their families. The Loma Linda Guild was the first and original chapter of Big Hearts for Little Hearts that formed in 1999. Since its inception, the guild has raised over $1.6 million for the hospital.
