Church Offers Free Medical Services

Serving the local community has always been the aim of Loma Linda’s Korean Church, and recent medical and dental service opportunities have helped the church to achieve this goal. Beginning this past May, medical and dental professionals and Korean Church members have brought these services to those in need in their local community. While not a substitute for intensive medical and/or dental care, or a substitute for regularly scheduled medical and dental check-ups, the services aim to provide care to those who cannot go anywhere else, shared Dr. Chulhwe Koo, M.D., program director. “We saw a little need in our community. This is something we are doing just for our local communities,” he said. “And we are not trying to compete with or replace a person’s general medical practitioner. These services are here for those who have nowhere else to go.” Services include health education, primary care physician consultation, physical therapist consultation, dietician consultation, pharmacist consultation, weight measurements, height checks, body mass index measurements, blood pressure readings, heart and respiration rate readings, oxygen saturation, blood sugar checks, hearing and vision screenings, dental consultations, basic dental X-rays, and basic dental cleanings. The services are offered on the fourth Saturday of every month, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Dasom Community Center, 12139 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Suite 110, in Grand Terrace.
