On Wednesday, Jan. 13 around 8:16 a.m., deputies assigned to Loma Linda were dispatched to the report of a theft that had occurred at Manna Donuts. While responding to the location, the victim was able to provide information to Sheriff’s Dispatch, identifying the suspect as a black male adult, wearing a grey sweatshirt and pants. In addition to the suspect description, the victim indicated the suspect had entered the store and stolen a fundraiser container from the counter which had an undetermined amount of money inside. The victim reported they had chased the suspect on foot northbound on Mountain View, until losing sight of him. Upon arrival, deputies conducted a check of the area where the suspect was last seen. Deputies quickly located the suspect in a vehicle near an apartment complex. While detaining the suspect, deputies located and identified the money from the fundraiser container. The money was found both on his person and near him. The suspect was positively identified as Jabari Varnado. During the investigation, deputies learned Varnado was on active felony parole for burglary. Varnado was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for Felony Theft and Violation of Parole.
