LLU Senior Health and Fitness Fair Goes Back in Time

At the Loma Linda University Health Drayson Center on Oct. 22, Wednesday morning was the 12th Annual Senior Health and Fitness Fair. Seniors were offered free blood testing and health screenings. That’s not including the almost one hundred health and wellness booths available from various community organizations and sponsors. The event had a fun twist and went back in time. It featured a 1950s-themed classic car show. The Drayson Center parking lot was reserved primarily for classic and antique cars. Some of the community members working the event were even dressed up ‘50s style with polka-dots and poodle skirts. By 9 a.m., the line to get into the event was wrapping around the Drayson Center. Prior to the doors opening, community seniors were sitting outside on the benches waiting to line up. The event included booths from Guide Dogs of the Desert, Home Instead Senior Care, Dignity Memorial, Southern CA Edison, Blossom Grove Alzheimer’s Special Care Center and many more healthy-motivated booths for all seniors to check out. Other than the health booths, there were booths for popcorn, drinks, and refreshments as well. “This is a popular and fun event… we are always happy to be here,” Kerre Ziprick of Guide Dogs of the Desert shared. They even brought two of the guide dogs, Sadie and Izzy, to accompany their booth. Seniors were also able to go on tours of the Drayson Center. The tours ran every forty-five minutes that started at 9:30 a.m.
