Loma Linda University Health PossAbilities is hosting their annual wheelchair drive on Friday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. until noon. The goal is to collect as many new or used non-electrical wheelchairs, canes, and walkers as possible for Joni and Friends Wheels for the World (WFTW). Wheelchairs are to be collected at the PossAbilities office which is located in the Professional Plaza on Barton Road in Loma Linda. PossAbilities is a community outreach program developed by Loma Linda University Center East Campus (LLUCEC) in 2001. The program offers those who were born with a physical disability or who suffered from permanent physical injury a sense of belonging. Because of this sense of righteousness, PossAbilities was the perfect partner for WFTW. WFTW collect wheelchairs in order to give them to children and adults worldwide who have a physical disability. WFTW also provides donation receipts for tax purposes upon receiving a wheelchair or one of the other items being collected. For more information about the annual wheelchair drive and how to donate, contact Jeannette Burkhart at 909-792-2308.
