In the first of what could be multiple preseason accolades, California Baptist University was named the 2015-16 Sporting News Top 10 in NCAA Division II Tuesday, Sept. 22 afternoon. The Lancers round out the No. 10 spot after finishing last year in the Sweet 16 with a 26-7 overall record, their second-straight NCAA Division II postseason appearance. CBU is the only West Region school listed in the Top 10, with BYU-Hawaii and Western Oregon noted as possible breakthrough programs. CBU's 2015-16 season tips off early this year as the Lancers were invited to the elite Tipoff Classic in Anaheim, Calif., Oct. 30-Nov. 1. The Lancers open the campaign with a 6:15 p.m. tipoff against Minnesota State-Moorhead (another possible breakthrough team) on Friday, Oct. 30 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The home season opens for the Lancers on Nov. 13 as they host the PacWest/CCAA Conference Challenge, taking on Cal State Dominguez Hills that Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym.
