Patients at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) let their super powers shine thanks to the LLUCH Foundation Board. Board members rallied together to create a patient diversionary experience unlike any other. In and out patients became superheros for the day on Friday, Oct, 2. Boys and girls were welcomed in the hospital’s Stater Bros Activity Center with a table full of superhero accessories – capes, sunglasses and masks – followed by a photo opp with LLUCH mascot Luke the Lion. Additionally, several tables were strewn with crafts and activities for the kids to make their own superhero shields, masks, pictures and more. One young superhero, Brooklyn Uribes, 6, from Yucaipa, enjoyed making a shield to match her cape and mask after meeting Luke the Lion. Her mom, Brittany Lamb, also joined in on the fun. “It’s events like this that we hope will allow these little superheroes to feel their best,” said Mary Ann Xavier, chair, LLUCH Foundation Board, “and help them feel stronger in whatever battle they are fighting.”
