A 5K Fun Run took place at Loma Linda Academy followed by the World’s Fair on Oct. 18. The festivities kicked off with the 5K Fun Run, where over 120 people participated. The run was in support of raising money to help families become self sufficient at Inland Temporary Homes (ITH). ITH houses families in need of a place to stay until they can get back on their feet. The run celebrated togetherness in the community and promoted health. People of all ages were running and supporting this cause. Jeffrey Little, CEO of ITH said, “Community and being healthy is important as it aligns with our values at ITH.” As the runners were nearing the finish line, Justin Van Allen, came in 1st place. Mr. Van Allen said, “I’m competitive and I always try to do my best. Plus, I knew that I was running for a great cause making this run worth it for me.” Along these same lines, Dr. Jim Matiko said, “You're never to old and it's never too late to make fitness an important part of your life.” The World’s Fair followed immediately after the 5K Fun Run. The Fair was filled with a petting zoo, games, food, face painting, and over 50 vendors. Farmer Ron Comrie was in charge of the animals at the petting zoo. Comrie said, “I had the animal experience growing up and loved it and so now I want other children to have that experience.” What a great event and what an awesome way to spread awareness and show support to our local organizations.
