Following, Solares transferred to the University of Maine at Machias (UMM) where he played for three seasons, and assisted two teams to undefeated Conference Championships and two National Tournament appearances. Solares, graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a B.A. in Psychology, where he then returned to SBVC as an Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program. Solares has great expectations as UMM's new men's head soccer coach.
