With a focus on incoming K – 4th grade students who are presenting with, or are at-risk for, difficulty in beginning reading and language skills, Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions’ department of Communication Sciences and Disorders will be hosting a two-week Phonological Awareness and Literacy Camp, July 20 through 31. The morning schedule, 9 a.m. to noon, will include Language in the Classroom (LINC) activities, phonological awareness activities and language practice sessions. The afternoon schedule, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, will include similar activities. Individualized speech and language services may also be provided, depending on need. Jennifer St. Clair, MS, CCC-SLP, and Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator for Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions’ department of Communication Sciences and Disorders said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for incoming Kindergarten through 4th Grade students who may be experiencing difficulties with reading and language skills, to receive some dedicated tutoring and instruction. The camp will strengthen these skills in a fun and non-threatening environment.” The PAL camp will be held at the Loma Linda Elementary School, 10656 Anderson Street in Loma Linda. The cost per child is $60 before June 29 (prices will increase after this date). For more information and to register, visit https://campscui.active.com/orgs/LomaLindaUniversity.
