Stater Bros. Charities and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) have completed another successful fundraising campaign to support access to treatments for Southern California blood cancer patients. In June, $1 and $5 paper mobiles were made available for customers and employees to purchase at all 168 Stater Bros. Supermarkets at the time of check out. The funds raised from this year’s campaign will directly support the Patient Travel Assistance Program in Southern California, which helps blood cancer patients who have significant financial need and cannot afford travel expenses to doctor appointments and treatment centers. Over the past eight years, Stater Bros. Charities has raised more than $2.6 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is extremely grateful to Stater Bros., its employees and customers who are helping to make a difference in the lives of so many patients with blood cancer and their families,” said Mark Roithmayr, Chief Development Officer, LLS. “Stater Bros. is helping to advance lifesaving treatments and patient support services, and it’s all happening now.” “The Stater Bros. Supermarket Family is proud to support the fight against blood cancers by hosting the paper mobile program each year in all our stores,” stated Jack H. Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros. Markets. “We are particularly happy that the funds from this year’s campaign will sponsor the Southern California Patient Travel Assistance Program and help many patients in need.” In addition to this campaign, Stater Bros. Charities also partners with LLS at its annual “Light The Night Walk” at the Angel Baseball Stadium in Anaheim, and this year’s event will be on Saturday, Sept. 19. This walk honors those who have been affected by blood cancer, including survivors as well as those who have lost their battle with blood cancer. To learn more, visit www.lightthenight.org.
