On Aug. 17 Ronald McDonald House (RMS) hosted their 15th Annual Car Show in Loma Linda. Sponsored by Corvettes by Chevrolet, the car show provides an opportunity for hot-rod and car enthusiasts of all ages to appreciate customized cars and raise money for RMS. The organization provides care and a home for families in emergency situations allowing for families to feel safe and cared for until they can get back on their feet. The annual event has grown exponentially since starting in 1999 according to Executive Director Mike Kovack and Event Organizer Eric Goodman of the Ronald McDonald House. Initially, the car show only allowed Corvettes to occupy the parking lot of the Ronald McDonald House but has grown to include all cars to be a part of the festivities. Cars of all makes, models, years, and sizes included streamlined Ford Model A cars from the 1930s, souped up muscle cars from the 1940s and 1950s, to modern Corvettes. Not only has the variety of cars increased over the years, but the donations to the Ronald McDonald House has increased since the first year of the car show. The 2014 Loma Linda Car Show raised over $15,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, all donated by the car owners occupying the car show as well as donations from the attendants. The Loma Linda Car Show was also attended by the Loma Linda Fire Department and even Ronald McDonald, spokesperson for McDonalds, stopped by to entertain the guests and pose for pictures for eager fans.
