Calvin Liang, a master member of both the Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society and winner of countless awards from the most prestigious art venues of the world will demonstrate his unique painting style and techniques at the January meeting of the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association (LLCAA), which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10 in the Loma Linda Senior Center, located on the southeast corner of the City Hall complex at 25541 Barton Road, in Loma Linda. Following his formal art education at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Liang’s skills took him to the Canton Opera Institute, as set designer for drama and opera productions. After immigrating to the United States, he worked as an animator in the American movie industry, collaborating in the creation of characters such as the Little Mermaid and Spongebob Squarepants. In 2002, he devoted all of his time to fine arts. “We’re thrilled to host an artist with such a broad and fascinating experience in art,” says Betty Francis, LLCAA Program Chair. His website — www.calvinliangfineart.com — displays several of his luminous West Coast landscapes. The public is invited to Liang’s presentation. There is no fee for LLCAA members. All others should bring a $3 donation, payable at the door.
