Artist Daniel D. Martin to Demonstrate Painting

Celebrated artist of the central California coast Daniel D. Martin will be the featured demonstrator at the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association this Sunday, Aug. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Loma Linda Senior Center. His subject will be a landscape done in oils. Daniel was born and raised in San Luis Obispo. As a teenager he showed natural ability in drawing and sold his first painting at age 16. He graduated from Arroyo Grande High School with honors and received that year the Bank of America Achievement Award. He earned his Associate of Arts from the San Luis Obispo Cuesta Community College and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with honors, from the Santa Barbara Art Institute in 1973. Diversity is Daniel’s trademark over the last 40 years. Although known for his realism in depicting the central coast shore and countryside, he has also done many well-received abstractions and impressionistic paintings. He is equally proficient in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and pencil, and appeals to a wide variety of tastes. His work has earned many awards and is featured in many private collections. Martin has taught art for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cuesta Community College and Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. He continues to teach many adult education and recreation department classes and gives private lessons as well as frequent demonstrations to art associations and groups. All are welcome.
