Suzanne Somers Comes to Loma Linda, Promotes Beauty Line

Suzanne Somers visited Loma Linda residents over the weekend, where she launched her new line of healthy beauty products. Somers shared with her audience on Sunday at the Clark's Nutrition Loma Linda location that she has always been a proponent of health in all aspects of life. A frequent visitor to the Rancho Mirage store, Somers developed a friendship with the Clark family, where she shared her passion for the necessity of a healthy diet and the need for non-toxic/non-chemical beauty products, she explained. Somers and the Clark family began working together to present a new beauty line, SUZANNE Organics, including foundations, lipstick, bleaching cream and other beauty products all made from organic materials, she explained. Each product is toxic-free and gluten-free, she shared. Somers launched her beauty and skin-care line exclusively with Clark's, she said, because, when she met CEO Ray Clark, she "felt his devotion and passion for healthy living." Fielding dozens of questions throughout the duration of her visit to the Loma Linda store, Somers explained that most products used for make-up, conditioners and shampoos today contain what she said are toxic chemicals good for neither the human body nor the earth. She told the audience she believed it was important to be aware of what products are used daily, being ingested into the body or rubbed on the skin. She shared that plastic is an ingredient often found in lipsticks. "(Beauty companies) are using plastic in the very lipsticks that are quite popular today, and some of you have in your purses right now," she told the audience. Somers is a cancer survivor who, though she received surgery and radiation treatments, opted for herbal treatments in the place of chemotherapy, she told the audience. For her, this method worked. While she told the audience that products should not be used to cure ailments that only medical doctors can cure, including infections and diseases, she felt many health situations could be avoided if individuals maintain a healthy diet and are aware of the ingredients in the products they use. Rosemary Brown has been with Clark’s Nutrition for over 20 years. "Today was really a defining moment for the store to team up with such a wonderful person and (discuss) the message of health, which is what Clark's has been promoting for over 40 years," she said. Fan Tricia Farrow and her daughter Michelle Farrow stood in the front row to see Somers, who Tricia called her "hero." Tricia owns every book Suzanne has ever written. "I'm so pleased to be so close to such a wonderful and beautiful individual. I believe every word she says and I take to heart what she has been teaching for years,” Tricia commented. The Clark family was also present to support both Somers and the store. Clark siblings Kyle, Matthew, and Brigitte assisted with the event, and watched father Bruce taking charge of it. Outside of the building, KOLA 99.9's DJ Jessie Duran kept visitors entertained and busy with raffles; visitors could also sign up for makeovers and had the chance to win products. Also attending the event was Somers's husband, Alan Hamel. The launch coincides with Clark’s celebration of 41 years of service. Following the presentation was a ribbon cutting to close the event.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
