Free medical exams, dental screening services, health awareness and prevention activities, and resources will be available to the public during the 15th Annual Binational Health Fair and Month on Sunday, Oct. 4. The public is invited to attend the Binational Health Fair on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mexican Consulate at 293 North “D” Street, San Bernardino, CA 92401. Families are encouraged to attend the Children’s Zone of the fair which will include interactive educational activities, a smoothie bike station, child passenger restraint demonstrations, and other resources on children services for parents. The Department of Public Health is working together with the Mexican Consulate Ventanilla de Salud (Health Window), a Loma Linda University School of Public Health program, community organizations, government agencies, and volunteers to continue to improve the health and well-being of the County’s underserved populations. Hundreds of underserved individuals will have access to health-related services such as medical examinations, dental consultations, and flu shots at no cost. Last year during the 2014 Binational Health Fair, a total of 39 mammograms were performed. Of those, six mammogram results came back abnormal. All six clients were given follow-up care at no cost. This effort supports the Countywide Vision of achieving wellness and improving community health through partnership and collaboration with multiple organizations. In celebration of Binational Health Month, educational presentations and free medical services will be provided at various locations throughout October.
