Residents Get Ready to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo has served as a way to celebrate Mexican culture. Celebrated with colorful parades, festivals, and fiestas, Cinco de Mayo is a widely recognized holiday that brings people of all nationalities and backgrounds together.

ALL>> On May 5, residents all over will celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  While commonly thought to be a holiday celebrating Mexican Independence, Cinco de Mayo, history.com tells us, is actually a celebration commemorating the famed Battle of Puebla, in which The Mexican army, greatly outnumbered with only 2,000 soldiers, beat back an expanse of 6,000 French soldiers. Since then, Cinco de Mayo has served as a way  to celebrate Mexican culture. Celebrated with colorful parades, festivals, and fiestas, Cinco de Mayo is a widely recognized holiday that brings people of all nationalities and backgrounds together. The following is a list of local places where families can celebrate Cinco de Mayo and be safe.  Rancho Cucamonga will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo Saturday, on May 6, between 1:00 p.m. and 6 p.m., at Old Town Park, 10033 Feron Blvd. Admission is free. The event will feature a salsa contest, live music, and a food fair. visit https://www.cityofrc.us/ for more information.  On May 6, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., San Bernardino residents can stop by La Plaza Park for a festival that will include entertainment, car shows, vendors, music,  and food. For more information, call 909-384-5332 or visit https://www.ci.san-bernardino.ca.us/.  On Saturday, May 5, in downtown Upland, California, residents can enjoy live Mexican bands, performances by International superstar Bella and her Mariachi, Aztec Dancers, vendors, food, and margaritas. The event is free to attend and will take place at 273 E. 9th St, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/1808627319461665/.  On Sunday, May 7 a Cinco de Mayo parade and fiesta will take place in Corona, California. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will go from Sixth Street, to Merrill Street, to Rimpau Ave. The event will feature food, games, booths, dancers, antique cars, puppet shows, mariachi groups and more.
