Loma Linda University Health’s (LLUH) Office of Advancement films team took home five Emmy® Awards at the 39th Annual Pacific Southwest Emmy® Awards on the evening of June 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada. LLUH’s TV show “Loma Linda 360” was recognized by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the most highly regarded award in the television industry: the Emmy®.
“My team and I were honored to be recognized for the work that we do,” said advancement films director, Patricia Kelikani. “We have an awesome opportunity to share the stories of those who face challenges that life has thrown their way and the people who help them through it. They invite us on their journey in an effort to give hope to others, and we are inspired by them every day.”
“Loma Linda 360” was nominated seven times this year. The winning episodes and awards were:
• “Beating Cancer” —magazine program/special category
• “Heart to Heart” —health/science program category
• “End It Now: A Look into Preventing Child Abuse” —public/current/community affairs category
• “Who I Am” —human interest category
• “Can You See My Pain?” —informational/instructional category
This is the show’s third year to win Emmy® Awards. The last season earned Emmys in four categories, and season two swept its categories by taking home three gold trophies.
Season four of “Loma Linda 360” aired last year on the PBS affiliate, KVCR and KVCR-DC as well as the CBS and ABC affiliates in the Palm Springs area. Advancement films is currently in production on a new show called “Life on the Line” that is being planned for release on PBS stations nationally.
The Emmy® Awards recognize outstanding achievements in television by conferring annual awards of merit in the Pacific Southwest region, which includes San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
