On October 30, 2017, at 9:46 am, Loma Linda Deputies responded to a call regarding a male suspect knocking on an older person's residence door. Deputy B. Ortiz responded to investigate the incident.

While at the location, Ortiz learned that a male suspect later identified as Michael Arthur Ray Monroe had attempted to open the victim's front residence door. After being unable to open this door, Monroe entered the victim's backyard and accessed a separate residence on the property. Monroe attempted to enter that home but failed to do so. Monroe returned to the first house and tried to open the rear door. Monroe did this despite noticing the victim inside the residence.
The victim reacted quickly and was able to take a photograph of the suspect and dial 911. This action was able to scare the suspect and caused him to flee the area.

An initial check of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful. Additional investigation was conducted as was an active search by Loma Linda Deputies during the rest of their shift. At approximately 5:00 pm, Deputy Ortiz located the suspect in the area of Mt. View Avenue and Van Leuven St. The suspect was wearing the same clothing that he had been photographed wearing. Michael Monroe was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center on a felony count of attempted burglary.

Deputies believe the suspect may be involved in other incidents. Anyone with information regarding this suspect is urged to contact the Sheriffs Department at (909) 387-8313 or (909) 387-3545.
