The public is invited to a Garden Festival at Humpty Dumpty House in Loma Linda on Sunday, Aug. 10 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Organized by the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program, the festival includes workshops, presentations, and a tour of the gardens.
Dona Jenkins, the UCCE Master Gardener Program Coordinator will kick off the program at 1 p.m., speaking on the topic of "How to Become a Master Gardener."
"Creating a Backyard Wildlife Habitat", "Vermicomposting", "Horticultural Therapy", and "Container Gardening" will follow throughout the afternoon.
"Container Gardening" will be offered in English and Spanish, and a raffle will be held for a lovely container garden.
Humpty Dumpty House has a series of picturesque gardens on a one third acre lot, including the "Garden Of Tears", the wickedly enchanting "Poison Apple Garden", and an edible garden called the "Food Court".
The gardens are graced with art and sculpture by some of the area's most notable artists, intermingled with lush food plantings and breathtaking water features.
The "Poison Apple Garden" features a Christine Curry Coates mural, a forested terrace, and a series of ponds, waterfalls, and streams, one spilling into another.
Water features include a koi pond, a veggie filter pond, and giant gunnera leaf spillways along a winding stream crossed by wooden bridges and nestled in luxuriant plantings.
Humpty Dumpty House is located across the street from LLUMC at 24630 University Ave, at the corner of University and Evans.
Come meet the designer, learn from master gardeners, and enjoy the lovely gardens.
Admission is free, and children are welcome.
