LOMA LINDA >> Portraitist and figurative painter Richard Stergulz will demonstrate his painting techniques at the June 12 meeting of the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association (LLCAA), which will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Loma Linda Senior Center, 25541 Barton Road in Loma Linda. Admission is free for LLCAA members, but $5.00 for everyone else. Stergulz knew he wanted to be a painter since the age of 8. But after a successful 12-year career as a commercial artist, he decided to live by his own favorite motto, which instructed him to, “Do what you love—only then will you love what you do.” After living and working in the Midwest and East Coast, Stergulz moved to California in 1995. Working primarily in oils on Masonite, the artist aims for a realistic style with a touch of Russian Impressionism; whether working in landscapes, portraits, or the the human figure. His stylistic virtuosity reveals itself in his mastery of a range of styles as divergent as impressionism, Steampunk, and Cosplay. In other news, LLCAA President Sharan Bennett, JD, announced that San Bernardino artist and attorney Julie Evans, JD, won the grand prize for the organization’s Fine Arts Festival. The annual event, which is jointly sponsored by Loma Linda University Health and LLCAA, is a six-week- long celebration of the arts held in Drayson Center and Loma Linda Civic Center as well as a series of musical recitals in a variety of lnland Empire venues.
