SBVC Men’s Basketball: Benton Signs Letter of Intent

San Bernardino Valley College Men’s Basketball sophomore forward Kyle Benton (Long Beach St. Anthony) has signed his letter of intent with North Carolina Central University. Benton played one season for SBVC and was named first team all-Foothill Conference, averaging 13.4 points per game and grabbing a team leading total of 221 rebounds, finishing second in Conference play. Under the tutelage of seventh-year coach Quincy Brewer, SBVC Men's Basketball ended the 2014-2015 season claiming their 14th Conference championship, the Foothill Conference Coach of the Year award and the MVP award was handed to sophomore guard Charles Callison. Brewer was awarded for the fourth time as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season, ranked second in the state with a 29-2 overall record and a 10-0 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 18 straight games. They were rewarded with the 3 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. North Carolina Central University is located in Durham, North Carolina. The NCCU Eagles play in the McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium and the team is coached by head coach, LeVelle Moton, who is going into his fifth season. In the 2014-15 season, the Eagles had an overall record of 25-8 and 16-0 conference record. The Eagles concluded the 2014-15 season at National Invitation Tournament where they fell to the University of Miami in the first round. NCCU is in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) of NCAA Division One.
