2014 Award Recipients Announced

Stater Bros. Charities (SBC) is pleased to announce the 2014 Award Recipients as part of the 7th Annual Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge. Awards are given to individuals who exemplify a caring commitment to the community they live in. Michael Goldware will receive the prestigious Captain Leland F. Norton Award. Goldware is an accomplished lawyer with a long history of support for veterans. He was instrumental in bringing the 1999 Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention to Riverside and in the establishment of the Riverside National Cemetery Memorial and Monuments Committee, which has constructed three major monuments at Riverside National Cemetery. The following individuals are the recipients of the 2014 Heroes of the Heartland Awards: Darnell Fall (a Vietnam War veteran who started Guitars for Vets at the VA Medical Center in Loma Linda); Lisa Houston (the President and CEO of FIND Food Bank in the Coachella Valley); and Barbara Wormser (a Redlands resident who is the Founder and President of Inland Harvest, a nonprofit volunteer organization devoted to feeding the hungry). SBC will make a significant donation in honor of each individual to the following nonprofit organizations: • Riverside National Cemetery Memorials & Monuments Committee ~ in honor of Michael Goldware ~ $25,000 • Guitars 4 Vets ~ in honor of Darnell Fall ~ $10,000 • FIND Food Bank ~ in honor of Lisa Houston ~ $10,000 • Inland Harvest ~ in honor of Barbara Wormser ~ $10,000
