Santa Claus boarded the Polar Express to the Loma Linda Branch Library for a Christmas-themed program on Sunday, Dec. 14. Santa’s busy schedule included greeting children, eating cookies, and taking notes on what the kids who came to visit him wanted to see under their Christmas tree this year. About 80 children, accompanied by their parents and families, gathered at the Loma Linda Branch Library to get a head start on the Christmas celebration. Loma Linda Library Branch Manager Stan Sewell added, “It was a pretty good turnout this year.” The library went all out with decorations to bring in the Polar Express as much as possible. “We used tape on the floor for the railroad tracks, and had a mock-up of a train for the Polar Express,” Sewell explained. As kids boarded the Polar Express, they were taken on a ride to the one and only Santa Claus. After telling Santa what was on their wish list, cookies and hot chocolate were waiting for them as well as an early gift from the Loma Linda branch library. According to Sewell, the staff wrapped various books to give to the children for an early Christmas present. This annual Christmas program offered Christmas presents, treats, a meet and greet with Santa, and of course, the chance to ride the Polar Express. “It was a fun Christmas this year. It’s about the kids and their excitement to meet and sit on Santa’s lap,” Sewell said. [END] Date: 12/14/2014 Time: 2:00 p.m. Google Map Event Location: LL Branch Library Address: 25581 Barton Rd.
